Editorial - February 2006 - part 1 of 1

by Mike McNamee Published 01/02/2006

Welcome to our Focus issue of Professional Imagemaker. The dust has just about settled after the Convention, although things are already moving into gear for 2007. This year a busy, convivial and educational time was had by all, some more than others - tales of people staggering from bar to stand and from bar to earlybird seminar abound but Chatham Rules apply, so no names!

The most striking feature of the weekend was that everybody was having fun. Even though it was a bit of a struggle sometimes to get from reception to the Orangery at least you could pass the time of day with the Irish brigade which was seemingly camped out in the joining corridor.

A special thank-you to all our models who worked as hard as anybody around - you try being dragged out into the cold and dark by Andrea and Richard or rolling on the floor for Julie when you are eight months, pregnant!

Outside of Coventry, the world is a very active place. Nikon has ceased production of most of non-digital products; GretagMacbeth and X-Rite have become engaged, with the marriage just needing the blessing of the Swiss bureaucrats; Minolta-Konica have sold out to Sony - and that's just for the start of a year in which Photokina is yet to come.

Come and say hello to us all on the stand at Focus.
