In Posing Pouch 11, we looked at photographing the nude and how to use shadow and pose to maintain a certain level of modesty with our male and female subjects.
In Posing Pouch 12, we are going to look at the deliberate (and relatively simple) use or placement of props in order to do the hiding for us.
Commercially, using props with nude photography to effectively reduce the level to implied nude, is a winner. More clients will take to the idea of being partially hidden and the prop, whatever it is, acts as a mental comfort blanket for the inexperienced model or, more importantly, the paying client.
Placement of props allows us to shoot in any key we like, as shadows are relatively unimportant. Posing, however, is critically important as the pose provides the frame to which the prop is added to provide us with the final image.
