Photographers Liz and John Denton

Photographers Liz and John Denton are looking to celebrate the opening of their new Hull Studio in style and share that celebration with a handful of lucky couples.

The next twenty couples to book their wedding with Denton Photography will receive a full digital photography package for just half of the usual cost.

John explained, “We have spent the past few years working from a studio over in the Dales near Skipton. We live in Tickton though and have been looking for premises nearer home for several months. We are now ready to expand our business with a fantastic new base down by The Deep. We love the buzz that’s around Hull these days. Our style is funky and fashion based, the mix of the old and new buildings around Hull is the perfect blend for us. Couples from all over the country come to us before the wedding for a photoshoot and we are really looking forward to introducing them to all that Hull has to offer. After the wedding day we always invite them back for another shoot in their suit and dress and can’t wait to use some locations around the city for these sessions.”

“We’ve invested a lot of time and energy in developing our style and now want to offer the chance for couples to beat the credit crunch and general financial gloom and celebrate their wedding day with us at a fraction of the normal cost. We’ll travel anywhere in the world for a wedding so whatever the plans, if a couple want stunning, contemporary photography then we’d be delighted to provide it.”

As well as weddings Liz and John provide a wide range of photoshoots and training.

Liz said, “We work with professional and amateur photographers, either ‘one to one’ or in group sessions to develop their photographic and business skills. People are going to get used to turning a corner and finding a bunch of photographers working under our supervision. It always looks like the paparazzi out in force but it’s just us having fun and teaching the next generation of photographers.”

Liz also offers a woman to woman ‘Bodyscape’ shoot for clients who wish to celebrate their femininity. “It’s a favourite shoot amongst our brides who want a fabulous gift for their groom. We work at the studio or clients home and everyone comes away feeling a million dollars and knowing just how amazing they can look. The pictures are very sensual and intimate which is why I feel it’s important that it’s me, a female photographer, working with women and understanding their emotions and sensitivities. It’s a tasteful and accessible art form for real women.”

Familes, babies, kids and maternity shoots all come before their lenses but it is the central theme of funk and fashion that styles all shoots. That’s why John enjoys his work with models so much. “When I’m shooting a portfolio for a model, either their first professional set of images or working on different looks with an established model, it’s an opportunity to play and try out some of our wilder ideas. We’re looking forward to networking with aspiring and working models across the county and showing them that they no longer have to go down to London to access high end fashion photography that will make agents and editors sit up and take notice of their portfolio. Nor does it have to cost the earth.”

It is weddings though that are right at the heart of the business and central to Liz and John’s thoughts. “It’s an absolute honour when someone entrusts us to record the emotion and beauty of their wedding celebration. We love every part of the planning, build up, the  wedding day and meeting again as the couples relationship and family grow. It’s a privileged role we play and we look forward to sharing that experience with couples all around the county.”
