Judging will take place in a number of open rooms at Hammersmith Novotel Exhibition and Convention Centre on the Wednesday 10:00-18:00 and Thursday 10:00-18:00. All attendees can view panels being judged and if members wish to attend their own judging they can do.

The following distinctions will be judged by our expert panels:

What the judges are looking for:-

Impact - Technique - Story Telling - Creativity - Style - Composition - Presentation Colour Balance - Centre Of Interest - Lighting - Subject Matter - Posing - Relevance to category – Expressions - Cropping...

Submissions for Licentiateship and Associateship:

It is essential that you forward your submission on CD to the Society office prior to the event along with your submission fee (Closing date 31 December 2011). This will enable us to prepare for the judging process and ensure that the day runs smoothly.

Submissions for Fellowship:

It is essential that you forward your submission to the Society Office prior to the event along with your submission fee (Closing date 31 December 2011).

About the judging process:

Licentiateship and Associateship:

Each panel will be projected for the panel to view one image at a time, then the panel will view the contact sheet whilst the panel completes their assessment forms. Once the panel has either passed/failed one judge will then make a statement about the panel. The panel will not know the author’s name nor will they know if he/she is in the room.

Fellowship:

Each print will be showed to the panel one at a time then the panel will be able to view the panel as a whole. The judges will then complete their assessment forms and a discussion will take place between the panel before any decision is made. The panel will not know the author’s name nor will they know if he/she is in the room.

The judges reserve the right to retire to a closed room for deliberation to make a formal decision.

More than one submission may be made in alternative disciplines.

All members are invited to attend these days Free of Charge.

Filter Factory Taking The Soft Option
This is a big topic for users of Photoshop (eg digital imaging). Gone are the days of pulling a remnant of your wife’s/lover’s black stocking over the optically perfect Nikkor to jigger it up - now you shoot sharp and deal with the consequences later.

Photo Quote: Photography, alone of the arts, seems perfected to serve the desire humans have for a moment - this very moment - to stay. - Sam Abell
