Testimonials: Abby & Colin's Wedding by Edinburgh Castle.
To Derek, I Don't think there are enough words (or space) to describe the brilliance of the photographs you took on our big daybed we will try. One of the most worrying parts of a wedding is your photographs but being very impressed at your work online and then meeting you in person we knew that it was going to be ok. You were such a friendly guy, really putting us at easing made us feel we could ask any questions we wanted, no matter how silly it may sound! The engagement shoot was fantastic and such a good opportunity to feel at ease in front of the camera and get to know you a bit better as well. Being able to choose where we wanted to have the shoot was brilliant and a perfect opportunity to help us create a lovely memory of where we got engaged, an opportunity we may no otherwise have had so thank you. One the big day you were so relaxed even when I was stressed in the morning and made sure that you has the photos I asked for. It was so nice knowing that you were in control of the situation and one less thing for us to worry about seeing how you managed a flat full of stressed females and children! Our guests absolutely loved you and hats off to you for managing to get every photograph we asked for while battling with tourists and drunken guests. We really appreciated the extra mile you went on the day getting your mate to take us in a taxi around Edinburgh. I loved that time, we felt so special (a bit like celebrities haha) but it also gave us some one to one time as a couple which was much appreciated. The photos you took with the caste in the background is spectacular. Colin had it enlarged and put onto a canvas with he words of our first dance song on the side, it looks amazing. I still don't believe it is us! When we saw the photos for the first time we were both in complete shock at how fantastic they were. We cried, laughed, screamed and squealed. (Me, not Colin). Lot's of awes and we ran out of words to describe the photos. What I love the most though was that they weren't just photos. They tell the story of your wedding journey and looking through them felt like we were reliving it minute by minute, feeling the emotions of the day all over again. it really says something when you can look at a photograph and feel the emotion you are looking at. Truly amazing Derek. You really captured all the special moments of the day and all the details we may have forgotten in the years to come. I have still not got tired of looking at the photographs and I don't think I ever will. You have provided such a fantastic a fantastic service, thank you so so much for being a part of our special day. You have given us memories of our wedding journey we will treasure forever and share over and over again with our loved ones for years to come. If we can be of any help, reviews etc please just let us know. Thanks again. Love, The Hutchisons xxx
Choosing your photographer is arguably the hardest decision in planning your wedding. My wife and I had incredibly high expectations for our wedding photos and spent weeks trawling the Internet, searching for a style that inspired us. Derek's shots seemed unique, sophisticated and en vogue without feeling staged. He creates the perfect shot, and then almost snaps the out takes. What you're left with is a dynamic and beautiful piece of art that truly catches the emotion of the moment. Derek the artist seemed impressive, and Derek the Man complemented his alter ego perfectly. We hit it off instantly, and he clearly shared our vision for the day. Upon meeting him, we knew we were in safe hands. He put us at total ease during our practice e-session and the results were fantastic. On the day itself, Derek found the perfect balance between being a welcome and polite guest, and being totally invisible. He made no demands on us, and simply reacted to what we wanted. He stayed well into the evening, capturing some of those hilarious and important late night moments. Post shoot, he worked tirelessly to meet our demanding requests concerning adjustments and presentation. What we are left with is an everlasting memory of our perfect day, perfectly captured. A stunning piece of art created by a true gentleman, an absolute workhorse, and a friend. A thousand thank you's Derek. Mhairi & John
Jonathan: Somewhat reluctantly, my fiancee agreed to have a photographer at our very small and private destination wedding. It's not that she didn't want to capture our memories, she was very concerned about having a stranger at our wedding giving orders and taking away from what was most important to us - each other. She'd seen that happen too many times at weddings that she had attended and didn't want the same thing to happen to us. I assured her that I would make sure that things would go smoothly, and set off to find our photographer. Because neither of us were from our wedding destination, Scotland, I didn't have any recommendations from friends or family to use; instead, I searched google for wedding photographers. What I found were almost entirely examples of simple and basic photos, uninspiring and entirely plain. As a photography enthusiast, I was looking for someone that could not only capture a story, but use the lens to tell it, too. I wanted photos that would capture our emotions and our happiness, to add to the memories and to give us happiness every time that we looked at them. I was terribly disappointed with every website that I found. That is, until I looked at Derek Christie Photography! Here were pictures that were beautiful and artistic! Here were stories in every frame! I knew that Derek was going to be perfect. I contacted Derek and we were able to discuss ideas and a vision of the day - Derek was professional and easy-going, enthusiastic and passionate about his craft. I couldn't wait to see him at work. What we got was beyond expectation: beautiful pictures that immediately capture the eye and draw the viewer in to examine every detail. Working with Derek was so easy: he did better than simply "fade into the background," what he did was become a part of the celebration! He wasn't "just" our photographer, he became one of the honored guests! And my fiancee? She loved working with him too: her initial concerns melted away immediately, and we both had an absolute blast working with him. It's one thing to hire a photographer that won't detract from your day; it's another thing entirely to find one that adds to it. If you're having a wedding in Scotland, you're going to want to give Derek a call
I would give more stars if I could. We cannot recommend Derek enough, we are so thankful we chose him as our wedding photographer. He is worth every penny and the preview photos we've seen so far are just beyond amazing and we cannot wait to see the rest. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind they will be everything we hope for and more, we both felt like our friend was there taking our photos on the day and he just makes everything so easy and relaxed. Anyone looking on this website definitely choose Derek as your photographer as he genuinely cares about your wedding and what you want out of the photos. I know we will have an amazing album to treasure forever :0))))) thank you so much Derek! I have sung your praises to everyone that's asked about our wedding day as you helped make it so special and stress free, The Shaws :0))
Thank you Derek for delivering such a wonderfully personal, laid back, friendly and fun photography service. We picked you because of your 'candid' style of photography and because you captured the atmosphere of each clients day perfectly. We were not disappointed. You fitted in so well to our big day that you became another one of our guests (with a much better camera and photographic talent!) :) So far the photos look wonderful and we would not hesitate to recommend you for a second. xxx
