Brian Haggerty photographer in Gwent

Type business: Full Time Professional

My photographic style: mixed traditional weddings with a bit of reportage

My greatest strengths: making the bride feel relaxed, and keeping calm on the day

I have been in photography: 35years

How I got started in photography: I started getting interested looking at paintings and other peoples images the technical side came wondering why mine were not the same and reading practising and experimenting in the darkroom

My photographic skills.............: I have been teaching as well as full time pro photography since doing my teaching certificate in 1992, both city and guilds including darkroom work and for the last 10years digital photography and adobe Photoshop since number 5. i

My personality: Laid back and calm as fare as the client is concerned but the image must be right as well

Geographic areas I cover: South Wales

Venues I frequently attend.: Cwrtt Bledyn, Celtic manor , Glenn-y-Avon

I found inspiration from: Mostly light and how it changes the landscape, image manipulation via the digital world. brides and how they always look stunning. Why I like the SWPP BPPA: Interesting articles, seminars at affordable prices, quality mag, real down to earth people.

Future plans: Freelance Photoshop teaching on the subject of PHOTOSHOP FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS

And finally: when I started dig photography a 2 mill pix was £1000, if you spent that sort of money it was because you were interested in photography. Unfortunately we can now buy a 5 mill pix camera from Tesco for about £30. Adult education does not market itself for photographers they are only interested on bums on seats, hence the need for me to freelance teaching Photoshop. As I’m totally dissausioned in adult ed. Greg Cameran-Day said in an article in the MPA mag that adult ed doesn’t teach what you need to learn in Photoshop etc.
