Full Time Professional Photographer

My photographic style: Individual, intimate and perceptive.

My greatest strengths: Putting clients at ease - listening to customers and understanding their requirements.

I have been in photography: 40 years - 6 years as a professional

How I got started in photography: With a Kodak 126 when I was on holiday as a child. From then on, I was the family 'photographer'.

My photographic skills: Technically up to date with equipment & software.

Artistically open to all possibilities and learning all the time.

My personality: Happy & considerate.

Geographic areas I cover: Mainly Scotland, but happy to travel anywhere.

Venues I frequently attend: Wedding receptions and rock concerts where I have access.

I found inspiration from: Life - especially young people. I taught for 24 years, and was constantly amazed and amused by my pupils.

Success in photography: Photos published in The Scotsman, Daily Record and local press.

Gained my LRPS in 2010.

Photographic training: I studied photography for 2 years at the then Glasgow College of Building & Printing - in the days before digital photography.

I then taught photography throughout my career as a Technical teacher, both in school and in Evening Classes.

I regularly attend training courses with other professional photographers in order to improve my skills and keep up to date with the latest styles and techniques.

My interests outside photography: Playing guitar, hill walking and woodwork.

Major events: I retired from teaching in June 2012 in order to concentrate fully on my photography business.

Why I like the SWPP: The structure of the distinctions and training that are available.

The very helpful advice that is available to members.

Tagline: Memories R Us.

Future plans: To keep working hard to improve and develop my skills and my business.
