Type business: Full Time Professional Photographer My photographic style: I love adding a splash of romance to my wedding and portrait photography. Of course as the client you have to play your part! My greatest strengths: I love creating great photography! That can be anything, from brightly lit, summery portraits that say something about the personality of the sitter, to beautifully shot romantic wedding couples. I joined SWPP to put myself under pressure, mixing with some of the finest photographers in the world, learning from my peers, helps to drive my own work forward. I have been in photography: I took my first photographs at about fourteen, I have been hooked ever since. For the other oldies out there I go back to the zenith e days!, taking over the bathroom to process films and develop the photos in the bath! How I got started in photography: A few friends asked me to shoot their weddings, others wanted christenings and other family events shot. I invested in a digital camera and haven't looked back since. My camera gear is more sophisticated these days but the real thrill is still showing the pictures to happy clients. My photographic skills: I am always looking to improve. Just this year I have been on photography courses with The Trained Eye, Mark Cleghorn and attended several trade shows and conferences organised by SWPP. Seeing the beauty of a difficult lighting scenario is my greatest ability. Dark church halls, sunlit hotel rooms and the British weather can be very daunting to less experienced shooters. My personality: My style of picture taking involves building a good rapport with the clients, so a friendly firm personality is probably my most important personal trait! And being a good listener helps too! Geographic areas I cover: We cover all of the midlands, we are based in the Birmingham, Walsall area, which is central to everywhere in the midlands. We also spend a few weeks a year in Cyprus and would be delighted to shoot some more weddings there. Venues I frequently attend: A daft question this one!! It's the photographer and the client that make a good venue, we have shot in all types of venue over the years. From a castle to an outdoor wedding in a field! I found inspiration from: True Masters of lighting and the photographic art inspire me. Damien Lovegrove produces stunning wedding and portrait work, year in year out. Wedding maestro Jerry Ghionis does the same in Australia and worldwide. If you can afford either of them ,please insist on me as a second photographer!! Success in photography: We don't enter competitions at present, due to the pressures of work and family life. It's one of those things 'I must get around to'. Photographic training: We are constantly developing new skills alongside established training organisations such as The Trained Eye, Mark Cleghorn, And as members of the Wedding and Portrait Photographers Society. My interests outside photography: Having a family of five children and running a business means having to pick leisure activities carefully! Classical music is a favourite of mine, Recently attended an Andre Rieau Concert...What a treat. I really love cooking for the family, they tell me it's pretty good. Italian is a favourite! Major events: We have F I V E children!! Testimonials: see the blog or website or contact me direct. Why I like the SWPP: Training,Training,Training! And meeting photographers with decades of experience, which they happily share. Tagline: we do have one. It reflects our belief that today's photograph is the next generations heritage. A PHOTOGRAPH:A THOUSAND MEMORIES. Future plans: We are already working toward training the next generation of family portrait and wedding photographers. We believe it is the duty of all photographers to increase the appreciation of photography through good service and constantly improving standards. Thank you for reading this far.
