Kit Logan has an Exhibition here. Type business: Semi Professional Photographer My photographic style: A good proportion of photographers are still finding their style.. I'm one of them... Or I might already have just not noticed. I guess my style is now being refined rather than defined. I've always been one to focus in and capture emotions and atmosphere. I also like picking out details, the things that are often overlooked by others. So weddings shoots tend to be more photo-journalistic and contemporary rather than having a traditional look, although there will be those elements as well. I want couples to be able to view their album and be able to say "I remember that..." or see events they may have missed because they were elsewhere. My portraiture is family and child orientated, I shoot lifestyle as I love capturing how people interact, and studio settings tend to be either high or low key depending on who I am shooting, although I also like capturing interaction either between people or to the camera. My greatest strengths: Well organised, but ready to go with the flow and be adaptable, I am also usually unruffled (you have to be these things when running youth clubs). I'm personable, but not pushy (I want to get the images wanted, but not get in the way of the day), engaging and fun (which helps bring out the nice shots). I've been a youth leader (voluntary) for over 25 years... and am also an academic researcher which is more of a mind set than anything else when it comes to photography and having the ability to evaluate things critically. I have been in photography: Amateur since I was 18 (lets just say that was over 20 years ago...) and turned professional at the start of 2009. How I got started in photography: Given a film SLR (Canon EOS 500N) on my 18th birthday and steadily improving my kit and skills since then. My photographic skills: Photographically its the ability to engage with individuals of any age. My personality: Unique.... usually unruffled, organised but adaptable, engaging and fun. Geographic areas I cover: Normally anywhere within a few hours of West London, but I do commissions anywhere in the UK and Europe (I'm often in Germany) Venues I frequently attend: It's not so much the venue as how its organised. The Germans seem to have a much better idea about weddings than the UK. Lets just say any DJ hired by a German couple rarely gets to play much. I found inspiration from: Any picture that makes me stop and think.. how did they achieve that? Success in photography: Not bothered entering or trying for a photographic qualification (so far). My images are picked for use by magazines and commercial organisations. Photographic training: Nothing formal. Just lots of practice and picking up tips and tricks along the way. Major jump when digital came out and switching to a Canon 300D (it became affordable then - particularly to an impoverished student like I was then), that camera is now on loan to another aspiring young photographer. Next major jump was when I decided to become serious and a switch to the Canon 5D Mark II and also invest in decent lenses both of which changed the quality of my photos. The number of shots I've taken since going professional has been exponential and a major change in quality to my images or rather change in 'keep' rate. My interests outside photography: I am a Learning Technology Fellow with the Institute of Education, London. and when I'm not doing that or running the photographic business I remain involved with youth work, and update the popular website FunAndGames.org (www.funandgames.org). Otherwise its the usual list of reading, technologies, cooking ('ready, steady, cook' style) and horticulture. Major events: Meeting my partner Tini in 2001 and then the birth of my son in 2009. Testimonials: http://kitloganphotography.co.uk/Wedding_Photography.htm "Thank you for playing such a special part in our wedding day in May 2010, without you we would not have the precious images that we hold so dear. When we first met you we were immediately put at ease and able to relax in the knowledge that our photographs would be in safe hands. You were faultlessly organised and showed true talent in your ability to capture the moments of happiness and love throughout our wedding day, without even being noticed by our guests. We were also very grateful for the extra effort you went to, to ensure that our wishes were catered for by capturing moments before, during and after our wedding at different locations within a strict timeframe - I appreciate this is no mean feat when carrying heavy equipment! We truly can't t recommend you highly enough and wish you the very best wishes for the future.
