Type business: Semi Professional Photographer My photographic style: I prefer to capture natural images which reflect the mood of the moment and people's personalities. My greatest strengths: Organisational and people skills. I also set very high standards. I have been in photography: 6 months How I got started in photograph: Following a few years of study I was encouraged by my tutors and by friends, to set up in business. My personality: Warm and friendly, very approachable. A perfectionist. Geographic areas I cover: I am happy to travel within a 45 - 50 mile radius of where I live. Venues I frequently attend: It's too early to say yet. I found inspiration from: Whilst I have always admired the work of Dorothea Lange, my inspiration mostly comes from what I see around me and the need to capture it. I am also inspired by beautiful photographs of people that I see generally. Success in photography: So far I haven't attempted any competitions. I would like to do so but find it hard to find time at the moment. My biggest achievement would be my 'a' grade at A level. Photographic training: Craven College Certificate in Advanced Digital Photography; A Level Photography; Step Up To Degree (2 modules from the BTEC syllabus). Also many short courses in photography and Photoshop. My interests outside photography...: Any spare time, of which there is little, is absorbed by learning more about photography. However, I do enjoy my garden and when on holiday I like to read a novel. I am also enjoying reading Harry Potter with my 8 year old at the moment. Major events: My life changed course following a serious road accident, which prevented me from walking unaided for approximately 3 years and left me with life long injuries. Prior to this I worked as a Project Monitoring Officer. Once my injuries started to improve I decided I wanted to do something more satisfying and following the birth of my 3rd child - 16 years after the second, having bought a Pentax camera to photograph him, I decided that I wanted to study photography, which I did, and that has led me to where I am today. I absolutely love capturing those special images and just wish I had thought about taking this up years ago. Testimonials: just a note to say the photos were fab and thank you for doing my wedding Michelle & Mark, Portsmouth a big thank you for the disc and the great pictures! There are some really special images and we look really happy! We really like the way you have kept them in order so that we can almost re-live our wedding day. We feel lucky to have chosen you to be part of our special day Ben & Nova, Scunthorpe thank you so much for the photographs of Lucy, they are all brilliant, I love them you captured her beautifully Pam, Settle Linda is excellent at putting people at ease, with her low key approach. Having seen her working at public events, she manages to take natural images of those involved, which capture the experience of the event. We continue to use Linda's images in publicity and presentations. Julie Barker, Sustainable Tourism Manager, Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority Linda was commissioned by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority to take the official photographs for the Bollywood Family Festival in Hawes. The images were just what we wanted, a broad range of clear, interesting images of the people who came along to the event. We have used the images in promotional material since the event. I love the way Linda has captured the day and the fun the participants so obviously had. Catherine Kemp, Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority Why I like the SWPP: I am a very new member and haven't had the time to fully read up on the society yet. However, I am very impressed so far with by the amount of communication which is so different from another society I did join a couple of months earlier, and also by the fact that the society genuinely seems to want to help its members. Tagline: I do, it's .......those special moments, captured today to cherish forever. Future plans: I want to build up my business and become recognised as a good social photographer, hopefully with my own studio one day (as opposed to my conservatory). I also want to work through my qualifications.
