Type business: Full Time Professional Photographer

My photographic style: My style of photography varies. However, I constantly seek to find new and innovative ways to be 'different' as I feel that is the key to being a successful photographer.

My greatest strengths: We have been involved in school and portrait photography for nearly 30 years and during this time we have built ourselves a reputation of giving a friendly and efficient service to the many clients we work with providing fully edited hand finished photographs.

I have been in photography: Eventure Photography was formed 4 years ago as a Limited Company. Having previously run a high street studio from 1989 to 1994. I then spent fifteen years with Van Cols Photographers of Colchester, covering school photography in the South West.

How I got started in photography: Having always had an interest in photography, I finally was able to realise my dream of becoming a full time professional in 1989.

I then got a break in school photography when I freelanced for Rotary Portraits, which meant working abroad for several weeks ever year photographing International Schools and US Military Schools. This continues to be a large part of my business today.

My photographic skills: My skills and abilities are that of being patient, as one needs to be as a large part of my work involves young children. Never to rush a shoot as it is important to me to obtain the best possible photograph given the circumstances presented to you and not to take on something that I don't feel comfortable with. I am pleased to say, I have never failed to deliver.

My personality: I have an outgoing personality and a good sense of humour. Often seeing the funny side of things that leave others bewildered!!

It is important to convey confidence and to smile constantly even if your day is not going to plan. Happiness is contagious!

Geographic areas I cover: Allthough based in the South West, I cover anywhere my clients take me. As I am also involved shooting many conferences and events during the year, these take place nationally and therefore travel is not an issue. Also as stated previously, I work all over Europe and have many contacts and friends in many countries.

Venues I frequently attend: Other than school photography and obviously working in schools, my greatest passion is portrait and wedding photography and working on environmental shoots, I would say this has to be a favourite. Also, being a part time professional actor, I am very interested in theatrical and celebrity photography, photographing in venues that match the subject.

I found inspiration from: I take inspiration from my piers. You are always learning in this business and every other photographer has something to teach you. You can always inspire yourself through your imagination.

Success in photography: I have gained a Licentiate from both the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS) and the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers (LSWPP). When I get round to it, my next step is Associateship - Watch this space.

Photographic training: All my photographic skills are self taught. Through many hours of watching video tutorials, reading books etc. However the most important training comes from just doing it and learning from your mistakes, taking care not to repeat them

My interests outside photography: Interests other than photography.............I can't really think of any off the top of my head but I have been known to do other things!!

Major events: Having the opportunity to travel and be commissioned to photograph a wedding in Boston in the United States.

Testimonials: Nobody complains so I suppose that's testament in itself.

Why I like the SWPP: The SWPP is a great way of interacting with other photographers, gaining a recognised qualification and being constantly inspired.

Tagline: a tagline I would use be

Future plans: My future plans involve expanding the business and as I now work with another photographer, Francesca Floris, also a member of the SWPP and SISEP. We hope to diversify and we are looking at the "Bump to Baby' programme and also increasing the wedding side of the business. We would also like to be involved more in Headshots for both commercial and theatrical clients.
