Metz presented its new mecalight product range at the photokina 2012 in Cologne. Both trade visitors and members of the press at the leading interna-tional imaging fair were equally enthused by the versatile LED video lights from the long-standing Zirndorf-based company, Metz. And now the time has finally come the eagerly anticipated sales launch will take place in December 2012, right on time for Christmas trading. With the mecalight range, Metz is extending its product range to include video lighting, systematically building on years of experience and specialist flash-unit know-how. In terms of photo-graphy, when it comes to illumination, Metz has constantly been on hand with the perfect lighting solutions for the past 60 years.
Due to the clear re-cent trend towards an increased use of the integrated video function on DSLR cameras, Metz is now bringing three video light models to the market. And optimal illumination is also required for video sequences which are recorded by users on digital cameras and camcorders. The newly developed range in-cludes the following three LED video lights mecalight LED-480, mecalight LED-320 and mecalight LED-160.
A happy ending for every scene
Modern camcorders and the new DSLR and system cameras increasingly have a Full-HD video function. This offers numerous new and exciting appli-cation possibilities for amateur film makers. However, it also means an in-crease in the demands placed on illumination. With Metz mecalight, the new LED video lighting range, you can now light up every scene to perfection. Whether it's a holiday video or planned film scenes -with Metz video lights, the happy ending is already written in the script.
More tahnm enough light for every scene
The mecalight LED-480 video light has 72 High CRI LEDs LEDs with a high colour rendering index and provides illuminance of 480 Lux. The LED-320, with its 48 High CRI LEDs, provides illuminance of 320 Lux and the small LED-160 has 24 High CRI LEDs and an illuminance of 160 Lux. The light output from the mecalight LED-480 and LED-320 can be individually and conti-nuously regulated from 0-100% as required using a dimming wheel on the back of the device. The mecalight LED-480 and LED-320 can be modularly adapted to the mecalight LED-160 in any combination desired. This allows illuminance to be increased correspondingly. The power supply is provided by four AA batteries or rechargeable batteries for the LED-480, four AAA bat-teries or rechargeable batteries for the LED-320 and two AAA batteries or rechargeable batteries for the LED-160.
Diffuse light for every scene
The colour temperature of the LED-480, LED-320 and LED-160 mecalight LED video lights is 5,600 Kelvin. In order to provide flexible illuminance for vari-ous types of shot, a 3,200K artificial light filter and a diffuser filter also comewith the LED lights. These ensure particularly soft and harmonious lighting and are included as standard. The filters can be quickly and easily attached to the LED video lights using magnet holders.
The flexablity to adapt
Creative lighting control is often required during video production. The meca-light Flex Arm FH-100 lends itself perfectly to this purpose. The FH-100 is bendable, which allows the mecalight LED video light to be optimally positi-oned. This is ideal for macro shots as it allows the subject to be particularly well lit from different angles. The Flex Arm FH-100 is sold as a separate ac-cessory and enables two mecalight LED-160s to be attached to any meca-light LED video light. In addition, the Flex Arm FH-100 can be screwed onto a tripod.
