West London Student hailed January's Curators Choice Winner in Fujifilm Student Awards

University of West London student Lee De Redder has been named Fujifilm's January winner in the 30th year of these prestigious awards.

Lee's image, which shows a lone man, standing, looking inwards at a dilapidated building and a lifeless tree, impressed judges with its kaleidoscopic inspiration and layering of images which seem to draw the viewer in deeper. Lee said ''I feel that all of the above combine to achieve the narrative of reflections' and makes us consider the layers of the world around us.''

He continued ''I chose to shoot my image using Fujifilm Provia 100F due to its colour consistency, it is like no other positive film and it has a very fine image detail.''

The monthly award is deemed the Curators Choice' by all the judges. Each monthly prize winner will be presented with a 12'' x 16'' professionally produced print of their winning image by Metroprint, a book of their choice from Focal Press as well as receiving 10 rolls of Fujifilm film.

Creative Director for Metroprint Steve Macleod made this comment ''The image displays a strong design aesthetic, it has depth and a thoughtful approach to layering and the use of reflection.''

This year's Award is run in conjunction with ChooseFilm.com, the online community dedicated to film photography, Metroprint, Focal Press and Fujifilm Instax
