He will be presented the Fellowship at Professional Photographers of America’s Imaging USA in San Antonio Texas on January 5-10 2017.
The American Society of Photographers was founded in 1937 to further the profession as an art and a science. Since 1968, only 120 photographers have achieved this level.
The Fellowship is awarded to an individual for exemplary work and aspiring achievement in photography. Candidates must submit a portfolio of 25 images, impeccably printed and mounted, along with a written artist’s statement of no less than 2000 words describing life work, professional achievements, personal experiences, future aspirations, and major influences. A panel of five carefully selected judges evaluates the paper and portfolio - all hold a PPA Master’s Degree and four are ASP Fellows. One cannot serve as a judge more than once every two years.
Recipients of the Fellowship have a responsibility to pass their knowledge and experience to their fellow photographers, be they students, novices or experienced professionals. Recipients are expected to uphold and foster the highest ideals of the Society and profession: they should never pass up an opportunity that might help advance photography or enhance the prestige of the degree.
