MPA Award Winners Announced

Erich Caparas FMPA claims 9 titles at the highly coveted International Master Photography Awards 2016 and is crowned International Photographer of the Year! Stu Williamson FMPA wins the overall UK photographer of the Year title whilst Lisa Visser FMPA defends her well earned title of UK Portrait Photographer of the Year for the 2nd year in a row.

Celebrating the Masters of Photography, the annual Master Photographers Association (MPA) Awards welcomed some of the greatest photography talents in a glittering awards ceremony last night.

So high was the standard of entrants this year a record number of merit winners were selected for the wall of fame, a stunning display printed by MPA sponsors, The Print Foundry. Merit winners were invited to the awards ceremony where finalists and winners were announced. Creative fashion photographer Erich Caparas FMPA and fine art photographer Stu Williamson FMPA were the big winners of the night claiming the top titles of the ceremony.

Erich Caparas was recognised for his combined creative excellence and outstanding technical skill winning a host of awards which included Fashion & Beauty sponsored by Hasselblad, Fine Art, Black & White Award sponsored by Epson. He stole the show walking away with the highly coveted Judges Choice, Overseas and International Photographer of The Year 2016/17 titles.

Portrait Photographer Lisa Visser, whose hauntingly beautiful imagery captured the attention of the judges again held onto her title of UK Portrait Photographer of the Year and was also crowned the winner in the Portrait Classical category.

Stu Williamson scooped the top UK title with his evocative fine art images, winning UK Photographer of The Year as well as picking up trophies for the Fine Art and Portrait Art Fashion categories.

This year the MPA celebrated a new category for the awards dedicated to Creative Portraiture and was one of the highest entered categories. Greg Moment AMPA claimed the much sought after title. David Calvert was awarded Best Fellowship Panel of the Year for his outstanding qualification submission earlier in the year.

Some of the biggest names in the photographic industry attended, and Fujifilm, Epson, Graphistudio, Hasselblad, The Photography Show, The Print Foundry and Loxley Colour were amongst the list of sponsors presenting these prestigious awards.
