Hear from four of Britain’s top photographers at Fotospeed Talks
Foto Fest gives you the chance to hear stories from top photographers, giving exclusive insight into their experiences and expert knowledge to apply to your own work. Ask your burning questions to all four in our live Q&A led by The Togcast. Speakers include:
Valda Bailey, a landscape photographer and former painter, aims to portray interpretations of scenes rather than literal representations. Her background in painting, she says, informs her approach. In her talk ‘Photographic Impressionism’, she explains how and why to look beyond the obvious approach in landscape photography.
Terry Donnelly is a professional freelance photographer whose work has earned him over 240 international awards since 2012. He is a holder of three Fellowships (FRPS, FSWPP, FBPE) and a Masters with the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, and thus has a broad and sound understanding of photography. Join him for his talk ‘An Approach to People Portraits’ where he will share his thoughts on capturing the personality of a subject in a photograph.
Julian Calverley is one of the UK’s most revered landscape photographers with over three decades of experience. His work has a unique cinematic style which commands a theatrical air. In his talk ‘A Journey in Landscape Photography’, Julian will be taking us on a journey through his advertising photography, how that led to his love of landscape work and in turn how he ended up making pictures entirely on an iPhone.
Join Paul Goldstein, an award-winning wildlife photographer and presenter, in his talk ‘Catching the Moment’. He will give an in-depth look at his constant (and failing) quest for that perfect image. Hear his experiences, touching on the pinnacles and pitfalls of many years of eventful photography in Kenya, Antarctica, and beyond.
Test the latest kit and create your own print at the Market Place
Each year, the Foto Fest Market Place provides an opportunity to get your hands on the latest gear and talk to industry specialists from range of notable brands. Get expert advice and Festival deals from the likes of Sony, Canon, Olympus, Lee Filters, Light and Land, Sigma, Datacolor, and more.
Plus, experience the joy of printing at the Capture to Output station, and see a complete workflow, from start to finish. Test a camera from one of the top manufacturers and take some practice shots in the Rotalight studio. Then, see your image in post-production on one of the latest BenQ 27inch colour specific screens and get some tips and advice for making edits to your images. Finally, see your image in its final form by printing it on one of the latest Canon printers available at the show. Take away tip tips for capture, edit, and print, as well as your very own printed image.
