The Wild World Photography Competition - Winners Announced

Fighting Finches grabs top spot in International Photo Competition


The Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers have announced the winners of the The Wild World Photography Competition.

For this competition we asked to see images from tiny microbes living in the most of inhabitable places through to birds flying around in our gardens.

Des Glynn from County Galway, Ireland was chosen as the winner.

Des has won 12 months membership to The Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers (SINWP) organisation a pair of Tasco binoculars plus a .photo lens clip.

Des explains his 1st place image ''I‘m really delighted that one of my images won Wild World Photography Competition and also another image gained a highly Commended. Some information about the winning Image,

I did not have to far to travel to get this image, as this image was taken in my back garden with the Canon 5D Mkiii with the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens from a Pop up hide. ISO:1000 230mm f/8.0 1/640sec''

Phil Jones, the Societies CEO says, ''Des’ image perfectly captures the theme of the competition. The image has great composition and is superbly sharp for such a dramatic moment ’’

The 2nd place was awarded to Diana Buzoianuk from London, England and 3rd place was awarded to Pranab Basak from West Bengal, India.
