Loxley Colour unveils ‘dark arts’ mysteries of the prolab world

11/11/11

‘In a UK-first we’ve created a snapshot for our customers about what goes on behind the scenes in a prolab like ours.’ Ian Loxley MD.

In a pioneering move leading UK prolab Loxley Colour has flown a world-class California-based filmmaker to its Glasgow HQ for a two-day video shoot in a bid to ‘demystify behind the scenes workflow’ for its global database of photographer customers.

Managing director Ian Loxley commissioned award-winning cinematographer Anton Lorimer to produce a short video outlining, for the first time, just how the 52,000 sq ft lab works to stay at the cutting edge of imaging technology.

He said: “There has been such massive change and evolution in the industry over the past ten years that for many customers prolabs like ours appear to be shrouded in a veil of mystery about what goes on behind the factory walls. We decided it was time for that alchemy to be revealed.”
He added: “The new corporate video on our website is only just over two and a half minutes long but it is a UK-industry first and it’s a professionally executed snapshot of what we do; how we embrace latest technology and how we support the development of this industry. And it seems to be working. We’ve only been live for a few days and we have already had thousands of hits on the video.”

Multi-award-winning fine art photographer Trevor Yerbury said: “Prolab workflow can be a bit of a dark art as far as many photographers are concerned. Loxley have done a great job in opening up their backroom secrets for all to see.”

“They are leaders in their field and they exist to help photographers make money with world-class products created and developed in a world-class, state-of-the-art environment.”
