The single most important event in the MIPP's annual
calendar is now less than a month away, and this
year promises to be fresher and more exciting than
ever!
19/09/11
The MIPP International Convention in
collaboration with The Societies (SWPP) will be held
at the San Gorg Corinthia once again, between the
14th and 16th October 2011. This year's line up
includes:
- Trevor and Faye Yerbury: Their distinct
style in portraiture and nude photography has
made them famous around the world. This year
they will bring some of this knowledge to the
MIPP convention, through a showcase of their
work and a workshop on women photography. Trevor
and Faye will also exhibit their latest
collection "Naked Ruins" exclusively at Gallery
Pi in Valletta. All members who book in advance
are invited to attend the opening on the 13th
October.
- Barrie and Bev Downie will be giving us a
triplet of sessions on weddings, including a
workshop on Saturday morning.
- Podge Kelly and Tom Lee have been regular
attendees to the MIPP convention over the last
years. Apart from being fun chaps (especially
with a beer in hand), they bring with them many
years of experience in weddings and portrait
photography amongst others. This year they will
be leading one of our Saturday workshops
together. Guaranteed fun!
- Those who have been to the MIPP convention
know for sure who Phil Jones is. The CEO of The
Societies, Phil has many years of experience in
photography, and will be sharing some of that
knowledge during his session on Judging.
- After last year's stunning presentation and
forum, Joe Zammit-Lucia returns this year to
host another interesting forum on Fine Art
Photography. Amongst the panelists will be
renown artists, curators and lecturers who will
express their viewpoint on where to draw the
line between photography and art.
- Sergio Muscat is recognised as one of the
leading architecture photographers in Malta. His
blazing photographic career has lead him to the MIPP Fellowship in just four years. In his
"Portraits of Architecture" session, he will
reveal his passion, vision and technique through
which he approaches his architecture work.
- David "dp" Attard is highly passionate and
recognised for his music photography. His
session will reveal how he approaches the
difficult environment of stage photography to
achieve the highest quality images.
- Darrin Zammit-Lupi is recognised as one of
the leading photojournalists in Malta. His work
with immigrants is extensive to say the least,
generating many projects including "Isle
Landers" being presented during this session.
- Ronnie Muscat and Lino Arrigo Azzopardi are
two of Malta's most veteran photographers.
Together they have been through thick and thin,
they have seen the development of photography
from glass plates to digital sensor, and have
embraced it at every point. Their careers
converge and diverge at various stages, and each
has specialised in different areas. During this
combined interview, Ronnie and Lino will go
through their careers, recounting anecdotes and
giving a picture of photography very few of us
even remotely imagine.
A full programme and speaker biographies may be
found in the convention booklet.
In line with the MIPP's continuing support
towards its members, we are offering a €10 discount
to those members who book between now and the 7th
October 2011 - these members will benefit from a
price of €128 (instead of €138), including lunches
and the awards dinner on Sunday. A full breakdown of
prices can be found in the attached flyer. Members
who book on the day will not be able to benefit from
this discount.
So make sure you book now by sending an email to
