Introducing Printocart Image & Printocart Image Plus

24/09/10

Stora Enso launches new substrates for the fast-growing photobooks market Europe’s leading cartonboard producer Stora Enso has launched new substrate materials for digitally printed photobooks. Printocart Image and Printocart Image Plus are high-quality digital print media designed to run smoothly on the press, with the excellent print results and durability needed to create treasures that last.

The photobooks business is booming in Europe, with new service providers entering the field and current players developing higher quality, added-value products. In addition to technology, software and service, selecting the right substrate is crucial for their success.

“Printocart Image is the perfect material when you want to create photobooks that will be treasured for life.

Compared with regular paper grades, Printocart Image as a high-quality cartonboard has a bulkier construction and superior opacity, which provides a real album feel,” says Jonas Pettersson, Sales Director, Stora Enso Graphical Board in Europe.

Suiting leading technologies
Stora Enso works closely with the leading digital printing technology and software providers for testing the materials for their recommended media lists. Today, the most advanced digital printing presses, such as Xerox iGen and HP Indigo, can handle board substrates up to 350 g/m2.

The whiteness and smoothness of Printocart Image contribute to excellent print results. Printocart Image Plus has coating on both sides for equal print results on the top and reverse. The both substrates enable stunning special effects, such as crisper and deeper embossing. Even with fewer printed pages, a photobook made of Printocart Image feels like a real album and lasts for decades. Printocart Image is the right media for a photobook manufacturer who wants to offer an exceptional and unique product.

The new materials are being presented by Stora Enso for the first time at the Photokina exhibition in Cologne, on September 21–26, 2010. Printocart Image is available in 190-380 g/m2 and Printocart Image Plus in 220-400 g/m2. The most commonly used sheet sizes are available for quick delivery in ream wrapped packages.
