Canon is pleased to announce two new updates to its SELPHY range of compact photo printers. Replacing the popular SELPHY CP710 and CP510, the Compact Photo Printer SELPHY CP730 and SELPHY CP720 feature 2.0” and 1.5” LCD screens respectively and a stylish new design. The SELPHY CP730 offers more creativity with the addition of Canon’s My Colours photo effects, while the entry-level SELPHY CP720 provides great connectivity with support for direct printing from most memory cards.
Delivering high quality photos that last for up to 100 years, the low running cost of £0.22 per print ensures that these printers compete with standard photo lab developing on price as well as convenience and quality.
The SELPHY CP730 and SELPHY CP720 feature:
2.0” (SELPHY CP730) and 1.5” (SELPHY CP720) LCD screens
Support for most popular memory cards1
New icon-based user interface
My Colours photo effects (SELPHY CP730)
Ultra-compact with sleek design
Quick start-up with 58-second prints
Wireless printing with IrDA (SELPHY CP730), optional Bluetooth and Digital IXUS WIRELESS
The two new printers are being released to address the ever-increasing demand for home photo printing – over 63% of photos in Western Europe are now printed at home or in the office.
SELPHY style
Sleek and stylish, the printers are designed to suit any contemporary home. A footprint smaller than a sheet of A5 paper means that they can be stored easily on a bookshelf or coffee table. Featuring an optional battery pack (NB-CP2L), the SELPHY CP730 is ultra portable, fitting comfortably into cases for work and travel. The retractable USB cable on both printers means one less thing for users to pack when travelling.
Lab quality prints
The dye-sublimation process used by the SELPHY CP730 and SELPHY CP720 achieves superb depth and gradation of colour, providing a similar look and feel to traditional lab prints. Each dot has up to 256 gradation (intensity) levels per colour for a total reproduction range of up to 16.8 million colours. A special layer is added to each print to protect from splashes, spills and fingerprints. Prints are ready to handle as soon as the process finishes.
Auto Dynamic Range Correction on both printers improves underexposed backlit shots by automatically adjusting contrast and brightness. The addition of Adobe RGB support allows the printers to faithfully reproduce the range of colours captured with advanced digital SLRs.
Big screen appeal
The new LCD and user interface advancements enable the user to see their images full screen before printing and allow for more accurate corrections and enhancements. The icon-based user interface has been enhanced to simplify navigation to key printer settings. The SELPHY CP730 now features Canon’s My Colors function, offering a choice of Vivid, Neutral, Sepia and B&W colour effects. A new trimming function allows the image to be cropped prior to printing.
Speed and Ease
The quick start-up time and 58-second print speed ensures that photos can be shared as soon as they are taken. Both printers provide full support for direct printing from Direct Print and PictBridge compatible cameras and camcorders, as well as most popular memory cards.
