EISA Award for the 645D

“EUROPEAN PROFESSIONAL CAMERA OF THE YEAR 2011-2012”

Pentax Imaging Systems is pleased to announce that the PENTAX 645D medium-format digital SLR camera, has been selected as the European professional camera of the year 2011-2012 by the prestigious European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA).

The PENTAX 645D, which was launched in the UK in September 2010, was singled out because of the camera’s exceptional image quality, reliability and superb operability.

The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) is an organisation comprised of 50 leading magazines across 19 European countries. Each year, EISA awards prizes for outstanding products introduced to the European market in the previous year.

EISA members highlighted several key features in its official citation. Jorge Goncalves, President, EISA said: “With the introduction of the Pentax 645D, the medium-format market has gained a much anticipated and highly competitive member that offers exceptional image-quality and handling.

“The 645D is a joy to use in the field, and although it is big and somewhat heavy, its ergonomic grip, large viewfinder, fast and accurate autofocus, and well-made controls make it perfectly usable without a tripod. With its 33x44mm, 40-million-pixel, Kodak CCD-sensor it is a landscape photographer’s dream, creating absolutely stunningly sharp and detailed pictures with very attractive colours and a huge dynamic range. As a serious photographer’s tool, the Pentax 645D is second to none.”

This is the third award for the PENTAX 645D, as the camera has already received a European TIPA and Japanese Camera Grand Prix award since its launch..
