Profoto, the world’s leading manufacturer of professional photography lighting and light shaping tools, proudly welcomes new partners that join the Air system.
The Profoto Air system was introduced in autumn 2008 together with
the state-of-the-art Pro-8a fl ash generators. Today this system offers
radio remote and/or fl ash synchronization with a broad range of Profoto
products, including D1 monolights, Pro-B3 battery fl ash generators
and even continuous light sources like the new ProDaylight’s.
Now two other renowned companies have implemented the wireless
functionality of the Profoto Air system in to their latest products:
Hensel
and Phase One.
Hensel, located in Würzburg/Germany, is one of the biggest fl ash
manufacturers. Their products are used by many photographers worldwide.
At Photokina 2010 Hensel introduces a line of new monolights, studio and
battery fl ash generators that offer full Air functionality, including
radio sync and radio remote.
Phase One, located in Copenhagen/Denmark, is a leading manufacturer
of digital backs, medium format camera systems and raw converter/
workfl ow software. Phase One has just introduced a vertical camera grip
with integrated Air Sync fl ash synchronization for their 645DF
camera. Used with the latest Schneider LS lenses and Phase One + backs,
this combination offers a sensational short sync time of just
1/1600s. This grip works with Mamiya 645DF cameras as well.
Wireless fl ash synchronization with the Air system is possible for
almost any fl ash equipment available on the market by connecting an
external, compact Air transceiver to the fl ash unit.
On top of this, the Air system is an extremely fast and trustworthy
camera release system for most actual DSLR’s.
Profoto’s intention was and is to offer photographers a reliable and
easy to use wireless fl ash sync and camera release system without the
frequency based local limitations or technical drawbacks of many other
radio sync devices.
The Profoto Air Group intends to promote this system as a new
standard for camera release and fl ash synchronization that is used by a
wide
number of cameras and fl ashes.
Because of its very short delay time and internationally approved
frequency, the Profoto Air system is an extraordinary versatile solution
for
camera release, fl ash synchronization and remote control. The Air
module is extremely small, lightweight and has low energy consumption –
perfect for direct integration in cameras, speedlights and fl ash
generators.
Profoto is in negotiation with other camera and fl ash manufacturers, to extend the application areas of the Air system.
