Sony today welcomed an expansion to its line up of high volume, high-speed
digital photo printers with the European launch of the UP-DR200. The newest
addition prints up to 450 prints per hour and uses just one roll of paper for
700 prints.
Designed for the retail and event photo markets, the UP-DR200 is suitable for a
variety of applications. From photo kiosks and behind-the-counter photo retail
outlets, to portrait photography at award dinners, weddings and conferences and
event photos at sporting matches and recreational destinations, Sony’s latest
digital photo printer meets a diverse range of customer needs.
Using paper-based media that is similar in texture to traditional photography
paper, the UP-DR200 offers two types of surface finish: glossy and ProMatte
photo finish. Sony’s patented dye sublimation technology simulates the
professional fine raster finish of conventional silver halide processing for
vibrant photo-quality prints onto four different sizes of paper: 9 x 13 cm (3.5
x 5in), 10 x 15 cm (4 x 6in), 13 x 18 cm (5 x 7in) and 15 x 20 cm (6 x 8 in).
“From the excitement of a football match to a day with friends at an amusement
park, Sony’s digital photography printers capture moments as they happen. As
part of our commitment to continually offering customers innovative services,
our newest digital photo printer uses paper-based media for fast, reliable and
competitively priced printing, “said Iain McCrossan, European Marketing Manager
of Digital Photography, Sony Europe. “Printing up to 450 prints per hour, the
UP-DR200 enables retailers to print high quality photos from a range of
locations and maximise customer convenience. Quiet to operate, it is ideal for a
range of both retail and event applications.”
In addition to the cost benefits, the new paper-based media is also easy to load
and maintain, and as a high capacity printer, there are even fewer media
changes- ideal for a busy retail environment. In the kiosks, both the ribbon and
paper are loaded from the front, eliminating the need to pull the printer out in
order to change media and enabling the printer to be installed in narrow spaces.
The printing side of the paper role has been inverted so fingerprints and
smudges are entirely avoided.
Windows compatible, the UP-DR200 has a long-life thermal head, approximately
50,000 prints under normal operating conditions, and its integrated LCD panel
displays print status in real time for easy monitoring, indicating the remaining
and total number of prints, along with any errors.
