Wedding album wipe-out is brides’ worst woe

~ One in ten brides would threaten divorce if husband lost digital pictures of the big day ~

Sixty-three per cent of brides’ worst fear is losing their wedding photos according to a recent survey by Ontrack. Other disasters such as losing video footage (five per cent) or spoiling their dress (32 per cent) were viewed as far less concerning.
Wedding snaps are considered priceless by 84 per cent of brides, so woe betide the husband who loses them, as more than 60 per cent of brides would sulk for a week or worse, one in ten would even threaten divorce.
Ontrack is warning the three quarters of happy couples storing images on home PCs that without an adequate backup procedure in place, precious memories are at risk.

With the digital age in full swing, managing digital photography at home is an increasingly common practice. People now rely on computers and laptops to store their images and only a third of brides admitted to having print copies.

“There are so many advantages to being able to manage your own wedding pictures at home,” explains Phil Bridge, managing director at Ontrack. “We can email pictures to family and friends, we can edit and print them and best of all, it can be a much less expensive procedure. That is, if images have been backed up appropriately to avoid huge disappointment if and when the PC fails.”
“Ontrack receives many desperate pleas from couples who think they’ve lost their digital wedding album. People should bear in mind that there are backup services and software that can be very effective in protecting their precious memories. In cases where they lost photos and didn’t utilise backups, couples need to know that experienced data recovery providers can prevent the happy occasion from turning into a sour memory.”
