Real retouching requires mastery of a variety of Photoshop tools in order to create the best possible results in the minimum amount of time.
- Cutting In photoshop
These retouching guidelines are by no means written in stone. They are just things to consider while you are retouching different age groups. Look for these things and then decide what you should or should not do about them. It’s easy to overlook small things, like blemishes in the eyebrows or a hair sticking out of a nostril. This list is more of a reminder of what to look for and some information about what retouchers generally do. Thanks!
- Lightroom 3:
Noise Control & Lens Tool
Lightroom 3 represents a great leap forward for photographers
in the area of image processing. We can now enhance our digital
images creatively in ways that couldn’t be done before. There are
a few new and refined tools that come to mind when we think
of these improvement changes. Starting with the new Process
Version (PV) 2010, which is an entirely new RAW demosaic
algorithm, or RAW decoder, that works to enhance the images
from the building blog of your digital image files, to the muchneeded
refinement made to the noise-reduction algorithm,
with the biggest advance made in the area of Luminance noise
reduction. Also consider the new Lens Correction tool built right
into the RAW adjustment fundamental. These are the tools that
we’ll spend time building up a familiarity with so that we can
harness the great power of Lightroom 3 image-processing
capabilities.

Michael Crocker - The Post-Production Sequence
Skin-smoothing technique used on the image opposite Marko’s brief for this set of images was to retain the early morning, spring feel. The TIFF images supplied already had a delicate warmth to them [1], so, after adding quick Levels and Hue & Saturation adjustment layers [2], I set about smoothing the model’s skin tones.

Cutting it in Photoshop
Hi everyone at Professional Imagemaker! It’s great to be here and I hope I will be providing some interesting insights into my world of pro retouching. Adobe Creative Suite CS5 Design Premium
Generally at Professional Imagemaker we avoid all the hoopla that accompanies the release of a new Creative Suite upgrade. There are a couple of reasons for this. Most initial reports tend to be regurgitations of Adobe reviewer’s press releases (and are readily available faster than we can get to press) and for ‘real use’ we adopt a more cautious approach before committing our workflows to potential pitfalls.

Photoshop 4 Beginners - Brush Up Your Photoshop Skills
The Brushes Panel is one of the most comprehensive of Photoshop’s panels, containing eight sub-tabs, five on–off tabs and a drop-down menu of around 20 items. It is not surprising then that the beginner is daunted by it all!

Lightroom 3: Lightroom Adjustment Brush In-Depth
The release of Lightroom 2, in 2008, generated great excitement in the digital community over the improvements made to the functionality of the program through the introduction of Localize Adjustment Tools. In Lightroom 3, these tools remain, for the most part, unchanged with some minor improvements to the user interface and usability, most notably the disappearance of the less intuitive button mode.

PhotoShop 4 Beginners:
Levels and Curves
Almost everything that you tackle may be accomplished by about five different methods and there is a general confusing babble about which is the most effective way. Adjusting tone range and colour are two such tasks. Although they are effected by the same tools, these tools are used in different ways and so it is sensible to divorce the discussions from each other

The Mystery of Lab Colour
Colour has to be shown in a three-dimensional graph so that the colour and lightness may be depicted. However, to
simplify things the Lab plot is frequently shown in just two dimensions which is effectively a crosssectional slice through the 3-D shape.
