Running a general practice studio (Morning session 09:00-13:00)

Stuart will cover all aspects of running his busy city centre studios, sharing his techniques in the studio and the all important viewing room! After a brief introduction the group will head into studio 1 for a practical session. Shooting with basic and more advanced lighting scenarios, we will create family portraits that sell time and time again.

Introduction to Photo Nottingham
Delegates will be able to see ‘behind the scenes’ and be taken trough the work flow and management of a busy studio.

Why General practice?
Stuart will discuss the benefits of General practice, and share hints and tips to generate more business for photographers of all levels.

Family portraiture
The morning’s practical session will centre around photographing families in the studio. We will shoot individuals, couples, families of four, and large groups, each time using different lighting techniques, different props, and different backgrounds; creating poses which sell and sell. We will then spend time in the viewing room, going through the sales process.

Makeover photography (Afternoon session 13:30-17:30)

The afternoon session will be all about makeover photography; Our in-house MUA will share techniques, and explain what makes a successful experience for our clients.

Using our new, purpose built boudoir studio, the group will create evocative images that customers love, using natural light , constant light, and traditional studio flash lighting. Posing of the client is also an important discipline, and we will work on techniques that flatter and complement the model.

We will also look at the sales process for makeover photography, what products clients like, and how to sell them.

This fast paced day will give delegates the chance to ask lots of questions, and the opportunity to shoot in two different studios on the same day, adding to their portfolios, working with models and make up artists, and leaving with a head full of inspiration and information!

About Photo Nottingham

Photo Nottingham was opened in 2002 as a General practise photography studio. Based in the city centre. Stuart and his team of 12 employees shoot 130 session a month, making it one of the busiest studio in the country. The Studio has been featured in Photo Professional Magazine, and last year Stuart won the Click Group Portrait Photographer of the Year, along with several gold awards in The Societies monthly competition.

This members day is the first time Stuart has opened the doors to fellow photographers, and is looking forward to sharing his knowledge and expertise
