Venue special features: This magnificent Hertfordshire building, with its impressive grounds and unique facilities, lends itself as an awe-inspiring venue for any occasion yet it is only minutes from the M25 and M40.

Whether it is for business or pleasure, intimate or spacious, the principal rooms of the Mansion provide an impressive venue and will exceed expectation.

From conferences and training courses, client meetings and corporate golf events to celebrating special birthdays, family parties or the elegant setting for your wedding, our dedicated team of event co-ordinators and banqueting staff ensure every aspect of your function is individually tailored to create perfection.

Venue History: Moor Park takes its name from the large Stuart/Jacobean Mansion built in 1678/9 for James, Duke of Monmouth. The Grade I Listed Building is situated one mile from Rickmansworth town centre and was built in the Palladian style in 1720 by Sir James Thornhill. During World War II, Operation Market Garden, which resulted in the Battle of Arnhem, was planned at the Mansion.

The stunning interior includes decorations by Venetian craftsmen. The famous paintings and other historic artefacts are owned by a charitable trust, Moor Park Heritage Foundation. The trustees, drawn from both Moor Park Golf Club and the Council, ensure that these valuable items are kept safe and in good condition for the public to view. The building is owned and used as the Clubhouse by Moor Park Golf Course and is regularly open to the public. During the summer months volunteers give guided tours.

Wedding Trivia:
STAG PARTIES
In Sparta, during the height of Greek civilization, soldiers were the first to hold stag parties. The groom would have a party for his friends the night before he was to marry. He would bid farewell to his bachelorhood and pledge his continued allegiance to his comrades.
