Quick Tips -
Event Photographers and Call-Girls! If you are interested in making money from event photography then instant printing is a must. Why can’t I just sell them on-line, you may ask? The answer to this lies in a tenet promulgated by some American marketers a while ago now called the ‘Call-Girl Principle’. This basically states that the interest in or value of any product or service declines in direct proportion to the time elapsed since the product or service was provided – which is why (so I’m told) call-girls ask for payment up front! Dragging you back to event photography for a minute, this means that your customer’s interest in the picture you have just taken is highest just after you have taken it. The more time that elapses after the picture was taken, the less interest. Therefore, to sell more pictures and make more money you need instant printing. Q.E.D! This weeks Quick Tips for Event Photographers is by Mike Orr. Mike is also one of our Member Training Days Tutors, see the website for more information on our Member Training Days. |
![]() Posing can be challenging for even seasoned portrait photographers. There are so many areas of the subject's body that must be finessed —whether simply to best present an attractive feature or to mask a problem area—that configuring a pose that suits the client, the mood of the portrait, the composition, and the reason behind having the portrait made can prove to be quite difficult. This book provides five hundred images from the industry's most heralded photographers, presenting you with a visual reference that you can consult prior to each portrait session to find a suitable pose. You can also review the collection of portraits with a client to gauge their interest in particular posing styles. Because this book is organized into posing categories (e.g., head and shoulders, waist up, three-quarter, and full length), photographers can easily zero in on a posing style that suits the subject and the portrait concept. |
