"I'm really pleased to be back in Ireland again, together with the Societies. I love this country and the hospitality."

Come and join me in any one of my three workshops around the country, for a "no holds barred" instructive and fun time.

I will be sharing over 30 years of experience in photography in the fashion and modelling sphere. The workshops will consist of theory and a lot of hands-on practice, where all delegates will be encouraged to work with our model using easily available equipment, naturally under my supervision and advice. We will be using the seminar venue surroundings for this purpose.

The bonus will be to mainly enhance your skills in posing, direction and lighting particularly when working with models.

You will also have the opportunity to have your images assessed during the day. Just bring over five of your images (in jpg format) on a usb drive.

Convention 2013
Workflow from the Basics in Lightroom to High Level Enhancements in Photoshop - Superclass - Sunday 13 Jan 2013

This class will include taking an image from import straight through to the final, print ready image. Using such tools as Lightroom for selection and first level enhancements I will be showing ways to improve the images overall exposure, vibrancy, white balance and more.

From there we will then export the images for further enhancements in Photoshop. Here we will process the images to a print ready state. We will start with the basics to ensure that each student understands layers and layer masks in order to get the most out of Photoshop. Using this skill we will apply it to many functions as we perfect our images. This will include using curves to bring out the eyes, and techniques for softening skin and sharpening fine details. We will cover adjustment layers, creating composites, adding textures and sloppy borders as well as creating actions and batch processing.

Painting with a Lens

Arguing that photography should be about more than gear, shooting modes, and computer programs, this book highlights methods for creating artistic photographs in the moment a picture is taken, rather than later in the editing process.

In stark contrast to the "fix everything in post production" approach dominating modern digital photography, this reference demonstrates a more purposeful approach to shooting each frame - carefully considering the subject’s focus and determining the best camera settings, lighting, lens choice, and composition to achieve that objective.
