The Search for the Perfect Monitor

McMullin and McNamee go on search for the perfect monitor. Above all other devices that the photographer may purchase, the monitor needs to be 'looked at' before you buy. Of all the decisions it is the one you will have to live with all day, every day - very little that you do will not pass across your computer screen at some stage, but even your camera is likely to have occasional days off!

The Societies Monthly Competition

Even though we receive up to 2000 entries per month sadly 100s of our talented members as yet have not participated. So for all those who haven’t submitted then make this month extra special by uploading your images today.

There are 34 categories for you to chose from, one image per category per month.

Don't forget if your image gets selected as the Judges Choice Award, you will receive £100, sponsored by Fujifilm.

Minimalist Lighting

While studio lighting offers complete control, many photographers are reluctant to dive into it because of the perceived startup costs or confusion over what equipment they really need. In this book, acclaimed photographer Kirk Tuck charts a simple course to success—and shows you how recent technological advances have made it easier and more affordable than ever to set up a very functional studio for portraiture, commercial photography, still lifes, and more. Tuck covers every aspect of the process, providing simple solutions for designing a functional space, determining what equipment you need (and what you can make yourself), and getting started with some sure-fire lighting setups.
