Quick Tips - Searching for Light

We all know that light is required to capture an image, but it’s finding that particular source of light that raises the standard of an image.

It’s always best to steer clear of direct sunlight, for the simple reason that it creates hard shadows and lots of contrast. It is best to move the subject in to an open shade where the light is even and soft.

An overcast day provides an ideal portrait light, the clouds will aid as natural light box, producing near perfect soft light. Be aware to make sure there are no harsh shadows on the face. You could always ask you subject to move in to a different location, to benefit from the light and background.
