My preferred shooting style is informal, concentrating on capturing the right moment rather than relying on artificial posing or props. This is true whether for individual or group portraits, weddings or special events. Of course, if posed is what you want, I can happily provide this as well. My first priority is to find out what the client wants, then make sure I deliver it. Although I now use professional digital equipment for all aspects of my photography, I started out with film, and honed my printing skills during many hours in the darkroom. I still print all of my own images, rather than send out to a lab. I believe that the printing stage is as important as the capture stage, and always have in mind what the final print will look like when I take a shot. I can only realise that idea if I am in control of the printing, and so every image I provide has been through my hands from start to finish. I’m proud of that, and don’t intend to change. My website has samples of all aspects of my work, together with an indication of my charges. For weddings, I set out to provide the package that meets all the client’s needs, including budget. The first step is always a face-to-face meeting if possible, so that I can establish exactly what’s required, and work out how to achieve it within the available budget. The quote I give at that stage is what I charge when the job’s done. I won’t surprise you with hidden extras or try to sell you stuff you don’t want or need.
