Richard Witham is available for assignments in the fields of travel, landscape and other similar commissions. Type business: Semi Professional My photographic style: Photography of all things natural capturing the beauty in its raw form. My greatest strengths: Patience, perseverance and a wish to get that unique and special image. A willingness to work with nature and not against it. I have been in photography: 30+ years How I got started in photography: Started out as photographer on Student Union newspaper mainly taking photographs of visiting bands and artist. My photographic skills: A technical competence in the practice of photography coupled with an understanding of the general laws of nature derived from a scientific background. My personality: My motto is 'live your dreams', my personality is one to match the photography with my own ambitions in life. To be bold and seize the opportunities as they arise, not to be frightened of taking risk. Geographic areas I cover: Global coverage for wildlife and landscape photography. Venues I frequently attend: I love visiting the polar regions as the extreme examples of isolation but love the fact that I am no more than 2 hours drive away from some of the best landscape and wildlife opportunities that the UK can offer. I found inspiration from: I have always been driven by the polar explorers especially Scott and Shackleton, but the works of Ponting and Hurley complement the exploration. There are currently some excellent wildlife photographers from whom I draw inspiration but I wish to develop my own style. Success in photography: Only recently started submitting more photographs into competitions. Gained LSINWP status in 2009 and currently putting portfolio together to get to the next level. Photographic training: Self taught through practice, experience and a large number of mistakes! My interests outside photography: Running my own consultancy business.
