Hi! I'm Kris, and if you're here, hopefully you're thinking about spending some time with me creating incredible images!
I've been photographing people since 2010, beginning with performers I worked with in theatre before exploring a wide range of photography, including weddings, maternity, newborns, families and events. It took me a few years to realise that working with performers was what I loved most, so I focused my work on actors, dancers and theatre companies and I've never been happier.
More recently, I've continued to expand my creative work, with headshots evolving into portraiture, theatre photography developing into photojournalism, and dance photography moving towards editorial and glamour imagery.
Having your photograph taken can feel a little strange, especially in a studio with lights aimed at you. My approach is all about making sure you feel relaxed, informed and completely comfortable with what we're doing and why. Most importantly, we have fun. My goal is for you to leave your session thinking, That was fun! and thankfully, that's what I hear from most of my clients.
Photography is a big part of my life beyond the camera too. I'm a Board Director for the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography and the Director of Judging for the Australian Photographic Prize. I regularly judge photography competitions in Australia and around the world, am an Asia-Pacific ambassador for EIZO, and frequently teach and speak about photography.
I'm also a performer myself. I perform music for improvisational theatre and have been part of Brisbane's improv scene since the 1990s, performing everywhere from small cafés to sold-out Brisbane Comedy Festival shows at the Powerhouse, as well as television work.
Because I'm a performer too, I understand how important great images are.
