My name is Dette, and I'm a photographer based in Sussex.
My aim is simple: to create photographs that I would be proud to hang on my own wall, turn into a beautiful book or share with others. I have been fortunate enough to exhibit my work twice, and I would love to continue exploring new opportunities to showcase my photography in the future.
My photography is varied, with a particular interest in landscapes, contemporary photography and, above all, portraiture. I love the challenge of capturing character, personality and emotion, whether my subject has two legs or four.
I don't really distinguish between photographing animals and humans. I believe both deserve the same care, attention and importance, and I enjoy exploring the unique qualities that make every subject individual.
My photographic journey has also been shaped by my experiences with agoraphobia and anxiety, which can sometimes influence how I approach certain projects. Rather than allowing these challenges to stop me from creating, I have learned to find creative ways to work around them and capture the images I envision.
This has encouraged me to think differently, adapt my approach and find new ways to tell stories through photography. For me, photography is not only about the final image but also about the process of seeing the world in a different way.
