Type business: Full Time Professional Photographer
My photographic style: We cover a wide range of styles to suit the taste of the client, ranging from traditional wedding and portraits to eye-catching PR-style. Working as a husband and wife team we are able to provide a full spectrum of formal and informal photography tailored to match the needs of the couple. I personally like 'proper' photojournalism - telling a story in pictures (not hiding in bushes and just letting things happen!).
My greatest strengths: A professional attitude with a friendly, diplomatic approach. Good sense of humour and able to get on with people.
I have been in photography: First became interested when I was at school. We've had our own business for about 20 years.
How I got started in photography: I discovered that if I took some decent photographs at the school sports day I could sell them to the local newspaper.
My photographic skills: Able to read situations and react quickly. Good camera skills built up mainly through experience. Trained (and qualified) at the London School of Photojournalism
My personality: Friendly, diplomatic and persuasive. I like a challenge.
Geographic areas I cover: Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Essex, City of London and Greater London but prepared to travel anywhere.
Venues I frequently attend: Given the choice, traditional venues such as castles, stately homes, livery halls and old churches, but I'm realistic - whatever the venue we provide the same professional quality service.
I found inspiration from: Henri Cartier-Bresson for his skills in making everyday events seem special. As a teenager, Victor Blackman, photographer at the Daily Express, for his sharing of expertise through his column in Amateur Photographer. Otherwise, life. Inspiration doesn't just happen; you need to look for it first.
Success in photography: My wife and I have our own business.
Photographic training: Mostly self taught, but trained and qualified at the London School of Photojournalism
My interests outside photography: In my youth, anything to do with cars - my wife and I used to rally (proper rallying, not treasure hunts).
Major events: Getting married (Many years ago). Birth of granddaughter (two years ago)
