Timothy Durham has an Exhibition here. My name is Timothy Durham and I have had a passion for photography from about the age of seven. Despite hours spent in the dark room at school my working life took a rather different course. I worked for many years as a sound engineer at the famous BBC Maida Vale studios. Then, as the new millennium started, I took a sideways step into IT Consultancy where I worked with various companies across the UK. I bought a digital SLRs when they reached a sensible price and started taking studio portraits, something that had been an ambition of mine since school days. That led to bookings for wedding photography and the rest, as they say, is history. I now work with my wife Linda and our daughter Sarah. I'm very proud of how our photography has developed over the years. That's reflected in the great feedback we have had from our clients - and that's the most important thing. Type business: Full Time Professional Photographer My photographic style: My style is traditional with a mixture of reportage and candid photography. I do like to make the most of available light and interesting backgrounds but I don't go for staged or dramatic pictures. My greatest strengths: A mixture of confidence, good planning and engaging chatter makes me very good at working with people, especially on wedding days. As well as wedding photography I also love working with young children. I have been in photography: I have been a professional photographer for six years. How I got started in photography: I started photography with a Kodak 66 120 bellows camera when I was 7 (in 1963!). In latter years I photographed weddings and other events for friends. I had always wanted to take studio portraits and a Canon digital camera and a set of studio lights in 2009 gave me the opportunity. A year later I photographed my first wedding as a professional. My personality: I am actually quite introvert but I like the performance aspect of photography. I have a keen sense of humour and I like to inject a little fun into all my assignments. Geographic areas I cover: Mainly North-West London and the home counties Venues I frequently attend: Moor Park Golf Club. High Elms Manor. Grim's Dyke Hotel. I found inspiration from: My heroes of photography are Norman Parkinson and David Bailey. Normans fashion shoots from the 50s and early 60s are just amazing. I was delighted to discover that a recent client of mine had been photographed by both of them. Photographic training: Self taught, except for some society seminars. My interests outside photography: My other world is working as a sound engineer. There is an amazing parallel with photography in taking a person's performance and delivering my interpretation of it. Oh, and I love canals and narrowboats. Major events: Marrying my wife. Being at the births of my three children. We were all really pleased with the resulting albums and the professional, but warm manner in which Tim guided us through the day, when taking photographs of the family.
