For as long as I can remember, Ive been in love with capturing those little moments that make us look back and smile. My camera is never far from reach and Im always on the look out for a chance to click the shutter. I firmly believe that theres beauty in every moment if you know where to look.
My journey in to photography has been a little unusual. Experimenting, playing, trial and error all played a large part in my evolution as a self-taught photographer. Ive also completed college night classes, online courses, attended photography conferences and specialist training days with some of my favourite photographers. The truth is, Im always learning and I love it.
Ive had the opportunity to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and ages, resulting in a better understanding of how to make people feel happy and comfortable in front of the lens, coaxing even the most camera-shy out of their shells. Years of working with children has given me the skills to keep them entertained during photo sessions. My training in public engagement means Im happy working with group sizes from 1 to 101.
People often ask me why "Mei"? Well, its part of a name that was given to me by my kong kong (what we affectionately called my grandfather from Singapore) and the full name translates as the Chinese plum blossom. Its celebrated in Chinese culture as a symbol of strength and endurance. I couldnt think of a better way to start this new adventure.
