Im a semi-professional photographer based in the South East of England, covering London and the surrounding areas. My photography is driven by a desire to create clean, well-structured images, with my approach varying according to the subject and circumstances.
I have been seriously involved in photography for more than seven years, although my interest began much earlier. Digital photography gave me the opportunity to explore the medium fully, developing my skills through evening classes, self-directed learning and plenty of practical experience.
Im enthusiastic about getting the right image, whether I am working on a personal project or photographing for a client. I believe good communication and understanding the subject are important parts of creating a successful image, often before the camera even comes out of the bag.
I enjoy photographing open-air events and busy environments, looking beyond the obvious to find unusual subjects, interesting shapes and unexpected moments. My work can include HDR and muted treatments where appropriate, depending on the subject and the creative direction.
I am particularly interested in developing artistic and creative portraiture, drawing inspiration from mythology, fantasy, classical history and traditional art. I enjoy using classical references and artistic ideas to create distinctive images with a strong sense of character.
Away from photography, I enjoy walking, travel, art and wargaming. I have previously worked in the military, construction, teaching and self-employment, experiences which have helped develop my communication skills and approach to working with people.
