My photographic style: I wouldn't say I have a particular style, I am very relaxed and laidback about styles, I take photos that I think look good, and have always found this is more than acceptable to the client.
My greatest strengths: Diversity and willingness to adapt to any situation and accommodate the requirements of the client, whatever they may be.
I have been in photography: I first started taking and developing my own photographs over 25 years ago.
How I got started in photography: I started with a fully manual 35mm slr, developing my own images from a small darkroom in my loft.
My photographic skills: Wildlife, Landscape & Low Light Images are a personal favourite.
I also hold full pan European offshore survival and medical certificates allowing me to travel to any offshore oil and gas installation worldwide.
My personality: Friendly, Relaxed & Laidback, flexible.
Geographic areas I cover: Any
Venues I frequently attend: Outdoors, I don't like the limitations of a studio.
I found inspiration from: Colin Prior, Trevor & Faye Yerbury, Andy Rouse.
Success in photography: Membership in BPPA
Photographic training: Very little formal training, I have learned through trial and error over many years what works and what does not.
I recently undertook a distance learning diploma in Photography but found it of very little personal use. It looked at the theoretical side of photography, however experience has taught me that for a photography to be a success it has to contain that extra special element over and above the theoretical elements of lighting & composition.
My interests outside photography...: Rock Climbing, Shooting & Fishing
Major events.: I'm getting married in a few month...:-)
Why I like the SWPP: It keeps me up to day with Industry developments.
Future plans: Work a little less offshore and develop my photography business, finding a nice balance between the two...:-)
And finally: Photography is not at present my full time career, I work in the oil and gas industry worldwide. This grants me extensive travel opportunities, and a good amount of time off. The only down side is, that its a dynamic industry and doesn't allow me to take long term bookings as most of the industry work is very short lead and unpredictable.
