Hi, I'm Lisa 👋, a photographer based in Porth, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales, available for photography services across the surrounding areas.
I am a freelance photographer who graduated in 2017 with a BA (Hons) in Photography from the University of South Wales. I have continued my education by studying for a Master's degree in Arts Practice, with a focus on Arts, Health and Wellbeing.
Talking about your own mental health can be difficult. I know this because I have experienced it myself. During my teenage years, I struggled with my mental health and found my anxiety levels increasing rapidly.
At the age of 15, I discovered my love for photography. I began taking photographs of anything and everything that represented who I was and how I saw the world. Photography became a way for me to express myself and gave me the reassurance and confidence I needed to begin finding my own identity.
By 2017, photography had grown from a personal passion into a career I wanted to pursue. My first exhibition, 8 Years Later, played an important part in helping me understand myself and my experiences. After facing difficulties with anxiety for so long, photography gave me the confidence to think mindfully, explore my experiences creatively and express parts of my life that were sometimes difficult to put into words.
Photography has given me a voice and encouraged me to share my story with others who may also live with anxiety or struggle with self-esteem. Through my work, I hope to create a space where people can explore their own experiences, emotions and perspectives through imagery.
Your Perspective is about how we see the world and, perhaps more importantly, how we see ourselves.
No two individuals are the same. We all experience life differently, and we each have our own way of seeing, feeling and interpreting the world around us. My work explores these differences and celebrates the individuality of every person's perspective.
Photography allows us to share the way we see and to express feelings that may otherwise be difficult to communicate. It is about accepting our experiences, exploring our emotions and finding meaning through creative expression.
For me, photography is more than simply taking a picture. It is a way of understanding, communicating and connecting with ourselves and with others.
