Renate Zuidema International Award-Winning Pet Photographer
My name is Renate Zuidema and I live in Uithuizermeeden, in the north of the Netherlands. My passion for photography began at a young age. As a child, I would secretly borrow my father's camera to photograph our horses and dogs. Later, I bought my own camera and continued photographing my animals simply for the love of it.
At the age of 19, I became seriously ill and was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. After undergoing three brain surgeries and radiation treatment, I was left living with daily pain and brain damage. This completely changed my life and had a profound impact on my mental health.
Despite everything, I eventually found my positivity again and rediscovered my camera. In October 2020, while out walking with my dogs, I decided to start taking photographs again. I quickly realised that I wanted to improve my skills and create images that truly reflected my vision.
From that moment, I immersed myself in photography, learning everything I could about equipment and photo editing while developing my own unique style. Today, I am incredibly proud of my work and grateful to have rediscovered the passion that has always been part of my life. I am now an international, multi-award-winning photographer, having achieved several wonderful titles along the way.
