Mentor Me Suggestions for wedding submissions

If you are submitting wedding images, do not include filler shots of just the rings, flowers, dress hanging up, bridal shoes, or the cake…

For traditional images the images must demonstrate how you have posed and organised the subjects in a comfortable pleasing manner. For those how have a more photojournalistic style then show how you have seen pleasing posture, shape, good camera angle and viewpoint direction of light and good camera craft skills.

Show a variety of wedding images, here are a few suggestions:

Bride posed alone (front view-full length)
Bride posed alone (back view-full length)
Bride posed alone (front view-3/4 length)
Bride posed alone (back view-3/4 length)
Bride posed alone (head & shoulders)
Bridal profile
Bride arriving at church
Bride and Flower girl
Bride and bridesmaids
Bride and Groom – show romance
Groom alone (full length)
Groom alone (3/4 length)
Groom alone (head & shoulders)
Groom profile
Bride and Groom with Bridesmaids
Bride and Groom signing the register
Family Groups
Groom with best man
Bride and Groom with Parents
Bride and Groomsmen
Bride and Groom cutting cake
Bride and Groom posed on front steps of Church
Bride and Groom posed with wedding limo
Large Family Groups
Groom and Family (Mom, Dad, Brothers and Sisters.)
Bride and Family (Mom, Dad, Brothers and Sisters.)
Vary the location of the images both interior and exterior

What lets many images down?

Lack of lighting control
Poor observance of background distractions
Uncomfortable subject pose or posture
Inaccurate exposure
Poor composition
Wrong choice of lens
Minimal photographer input
