Alan believes that selling products is alive and well in the photography business and that photographers don't have to be just putting images on a disc and selling them for a minimal fee. 'I want to get the message out that if you present your work and do your viewings live and in person, you can make more money and have better sales. If you presell your services and you put previews up on a website for online sales, statistically you're going to sell less.'
But although Alan has a great background in sales and marketing, he is keen to stress that there is no magic recipe for success. 'I like to be realistic about what's possible and what's not. I always say that there is no silver bullet; you've just got to work really hard. ProSelect might just be part of the overall plan, but if you use it well then the software could certainly improve sales.'
