Is it just me or was this years Convention the best yet? Perhaps it was that we'd all settled into the venue and there was no building work? Perhaps it was the wonderful mix of speakers and delegates who attended? For me it was the incredible amount of organisation that made things run smoothly and the fact that I shared it with my best team of talent yet. Also the fact that I wasn't recovering from illness or major surgery for first time ever was a bonus!
Over the course of the week we packed in four Super Classes, two Master Classes and still managed to fit in an appearance on Sandy Puc TV. My principal partner in crime was our newest model Jade. She wowed audiences on Safari and Boudoir classes and gave a fascinating insight into her world of modelling on our Friday Masterclass. Della joined us too on Safari and then disappeared for the rest of the week, getting married to Gaz several times and lying around in the street with Richie Walton!
We kicked off on Wednesday evening with the Convention Classic that is our street safari. We returned to the South Bank this year and found a different attitude to last year that made it an absolute dream. Last year we were hassled by every security guard in the area, as well as some dodgy skateboarders. This year we had a fantastic roaming licence and the only security we saw were friendly and supportive. Even better it was warm down there, so working in jeans and T-shirt was much better than the multiple layers of last year. Jade and Della worked their socks off to a full house of delegates. We found some great locations beyond the usual angles around the London Eye and Houses of Parliament.
By starting at 3pm we had just enough light to start off with some natural light headshots. My 70-200 mm lens at f2.8 is always my favourite for these as it compresses features beautifully and gives wonderfully shallow depth of field.
