The problem with professional photographers today is...
I think not a enough effort is often made when the images are being captured and placing to much reliance on fixing issues in post.Also taking too many average shots rather then a few stunning shots.
What’s the worst commercial error you have made to date?
Leaving my tripod behind once on a shoot in London
How did you rectify the mistake?
Rang a photographer friend in London who brought a tripod to the shoot. Importance of organisations like the societies helps us network with otherphotographers when you need help fellow photographers always help out.
The lessons learnt?
Check, double check, then check again.
Is it getting harder or easier to make a decent living?
Always been a tough market but yes getting even harder today. which is why it is so important to stick to achieving the best quality you can for your clients and remember look after your clients, easy to look after good client than find a new one.
How do you stay ahead of the game?
I believe firstly the quality of the photography you produce is paramount, then great customer service remember you are getting paid to take pictures so make sure they are what the client wants and needs. Keeping up with trends in kit and technique.
How do organisations such as The Societies of Photographers help?
The societies help by allowing you to network with other photographers being a photographer can be as solitary existence so the chance to meet and network is fantastic. They help to keep you up with what is going on in the industry and to inspire and motivate.
