Tips
1. 60-seconds pitch. Make sure you've drafted something clear that represents you and that you're confident about standing up and delivering to the group. And don't worry if you have to read it out - it will make sure you stick to the point.
Be very clear about what you want so people know how they can help you.
Remember to say the name of your business at the beginning and end of your 60 seconds. This may seem obvious, but in their nervousness people often forget.
Do try to keep to 60 seconds - it's unfair to the others if you go over.
2. Be interested in the other people and make notes as they give their 60-seconds pitch.
3. 1-2-1s. I can't over-state how valuable these meetings are. Make sure you listen to what the other person wants, take notes, and think of ways you can help them.
Be clear about what you do and what you're looking for. Tell them the type of clients you want to attract.
4. Follow through on your promises. If you say you'll send someone information, connect them with one of your contacts, or that you'll set up a 1-2-1, do it within 48 hours.
5. Make sure you have good quality business cards and promotional literature.
6. Be confident about what you charge and have confidence in what you do.
