Crystalline Canvas

Crystaline Canvas is based on a chromata white coating and sports a reasonable gloss finish as received. Here we ran into some trouble once again with the semantics of the website advert-speak. The opening graphic boasts 'No Varnish Required', a statement that is mocked just a couple of dozen lines further on by the statement, "To maximize longevity, Breathing Color always recommends applying a print varnish to all aqueous canvas prints." Now look guys you can run with the horses or the hounds but not with both!

For our tests we changed to Photo Black ink (Premium Semimatte Photo Paper as the media choice) and ran out a profile using a 727 patch scrambled target on i1 Publish. Once again we left the platen gap on auto. We had considerable trouble reading the patch target using the i1 Pro and after numerous attempts, re-printing the target and changing the target size, we switched back to Monaco Profiler using a DTP41 spectro. This solved the problem and we made a profile using a 729 patch target.
