Colour
We made a bespoke 400-patch target and profiled with i1 Publisher using PSgPP media settings and followed with a profiled print of our HiGAM target. As with the monochrome, the print was outstanding and typical of premium baryta products. The colour statistics are tabled. The stand-out parameters are the near perfect overall tone densities across the gamut* of ΔL/w -0.01%, the very low errors in skin tones (1.46) and the low Macbeth patch error (1.57). The gamut volume was 1,066,452 and this delivered HiGAM errors of just 1.78 ΔEoo with the bulk of the residual error being in the lightness channel* - in other words the high saturation values around the gamut were preserved.
(*although the cyan recorded the highest error in being too light) Overall, errors in average colour values of less than two are quite rare in our testing (Canson Baryta Photographique still holds the record!) and so this paper joins an elite group of media. For all practical purposes this paper performs flawlessly in regard to colour reproduction.
Overall
Another very fine paper from Canson to stand alongside the very best that inkjet technology can muster. The extra weight gives this product the 'premium' edge and prints are impressive when held in hand. Both this and the sparkling performance can be used to up-sell the prints as top-end products. The addition of some cotton in the base material should help with the fibre shedding that can occur with pure alpha cellulose base media.
